I think next quarter I definitely need to try some new glazes and hopefully glaze techniques. I want to try different color combinations than I usually would. Maybe some more contrasting colors, or something similar to that. Something different than what I have been doing.
I've noticed that a lot of people have been using the technique of carving a design, and then going over it with glaze, then before the glaze can harden, they scrape away the glaze. What happens is that the glaze stays in the carved out design. I think that something cool could come out of that if I made a design on a wheel thrown piece.
I found this type of clay that looks so nice! I believe it's called Agate-Ware. It looks like a mix of red and normal clay. I'm curious if I'd be able to make it myself, but I feel like it wouldn't turn out very well.
I was luck enough to have enough pieces for a passing grade in this class!! I was worried for a while that I wan't going to have enough pieces, but luckily you only need 12 different pieces on your portfolio. Now I just have to make some more pieces over the next few weeks so that I'll hopefully have 16 pieces by my capstone show.
The glazing technique below looks very interesting, and cool. I think that it would be fun to try this technique and see what comes out of it! i think that a purple, crimson, and blue would be a cool combination of colors to do.
My final piece came out really nice. The purple looked really cracked which I like, however it didn't make a mealting effect. I also really liked how the inside came out, it looks kind of corroded which I really liked.
i was super happy to get an honorable mention, I wasn't expecting to win anything so it was a plesent surprise.
